What’s Do :: Everybody knows the pixie cut is H.O.T. – hot right now. Photos of Carey Mulligan are ev. ry. where ! My personal fav is Mia Wasikowska. I also like that she didn’t Hollywood-ize her last name ; )

A Little History :: Twiggy, int’l supermodel & fashion icon of the 60s, sported this mod crop in 1966. She was just 16 & about to explode. In 1968, Mia Farrow brought it to the streets & the mainstream during the popularity of the horror flick Rosemary’s Baby.

It was Vidal Sassoon who shore off Mia’s long locks & created this gamine masterpiece that suited her so well. For the record, Audrey Hepburn (my fashion hero) wore her hair quite short (tho, not pixie-short) as early as 1954, in the film Sabrina. Julie Harris was downright butch in 1952. Very daring women !

Rocked It! Hall Of Fame :: Winona Ryder, Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, Sharon Stone, Rihanna & Victoria Beckham.

Let’s Get Real :: The pixie cut is not for everyone. It works best on straight, fine hair. It showcases high cheekbones, a dainty nose & large eyes. You need to feel really good about yourself to pull-off this short cut with confidence. Maintenance will be much to keep it looking fresh. Though, sometimes a cut like this looks even cuter when it gets a little scruffy around the edges. Unless you can rock a faux-hawk, there won’t be much style variation so have fun with the color to help keep you from getting bored. You can have fun with headbands & clips too.
